Who Should Consider Dentures?

Signs it may be time to consider full or partial dentures include:

  • You have loose or shifting teeth
  • You have persistent tooth pain
  • You're missing teeth
  • You find it difficult to eat or smile

While dentists do everything they can to preserve your natural teeth, sometimes tooth extraction is necessary to prevent further damage to surrounding tissue. Dentures can help restore your smile, allowing you to speak and eat comfortably again.

Our practice in Lake Jackson, TX, can handle all of your general dentistry needs, including tooth extractions, which are virtually painless with our sedation dentistry techniques.

Your Denture Options

Bell Dental in Lake Jackson, TX, is proud to offer several types of dentures to meet our patients’ needs. During a consultation, our dentists will discuss which solution best fits your needs.
Full dentures

Full Dentures

Full dentures replace your entire upper or lower arch of teeth and fit over your gums. These traditional dentures are held in place by suction and are removable. Patients may use dental adhesive to help secure the device in place.

Partial dentures

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures leave the remaining healthy natural teeth in place while filling the gaps in your smile. These restorations rely on either dental implants or adjacent teeth, in which case they use metal clasps for support.

Full and partial dentures

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures come in full and partial forms, and are crafted prior to scheduled tooth extractions so your dentist can provide them immediately after a dental procedure. These dentures usually take 2-3 weeks to make.

Implant-supported dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures

Full and partial dentures can also be supported by implants, the ultimate restorative dental treatment. Implants replace tooth roots, secure restorations like dentures, and prevent your jaw bone from deteriorating over time – a natural effect of tooth loss

I was so nervous going to the dentist because of all the past work I’ve had done at other places. But all of the staff here at Bell Dental are amazing and so friendly! They asked questions and let me explain things and super helpful when it came time to talk about the treatment plan! I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs it!!

It was a great experience. I have never liked going to the dentist because my teeth are not the best. From the time I walked through the door Nicole was making me feel at home and welcomed. Jessica was absolutely awesome and made me feel at ease. Dr Crocker was really down to earth. I think I’m gonna really like this place!

All-on-4 Dental Implants

We also offer All-on-4® dental implants, which allow our patients to receive implant-supported dentures with just four implants, instead of the typical six to eight. While some patients can't receive implant-supported dentures without first receiving a bone graft, the conservative All-on-4 technique allows our Lake Jackson, TX, dentist to bypass the graft and place implants without it. Plus, patients can receive a temporary denture during the same appointment as implant placement, so they never have to go without teeth.

Caring for Your Dentures

With proper care and oral hygiene, dentures can last for several years. However, the shape of your jaws and mouth can change over time. We can reline the base of your denture to keep up with those changes and ensure a comfortable, functional fit. Dentures may also wear down over time, in which case we can replace them.

To help your dentures last as long as possible, patients should avoid chewing gum, using toothpicks, or eating extremely hard or sticky foods. Patients should also practice good habits and dental care, such as:

Brushing your gums, tongue, and the roof of your mouth to remove plaque and increase blood circulation before inserting your dentures

Brushing and rinsing your dentures daily using soft-bristled brushes, especially the area around any metal clasps

Use denture cleaners or mild soaps to wash your dentures, but never toothpaste (which can damage your dentures)

When you’re not wearing your denture, place it in a mild solution or lukewarm water (not hot water, which can warp the material) to keep the denture moist

Your dentist will provide a comprehensive guide to taking care of your dentures.

Financing Your Dentures

While insurance coverage will vary depending on your provider and specific plan, most plans cover at least part of the cost of dentures. Our staff can handle any dental insurance questions and find out how much of the cost your provider will cover.

Implants are not covered by insurance, but are a valuable investment. For this reason, we’re also proud to partner with CareCredit®, a financing company that specializes in healthcare coverage (including dental).
