All-on-4 Dental Implants

Are you missing most of your natural teeth? Do you want sturdy restorations, but your jawbone isn't strong enough?

All-on-4® dental implants can provide an implant-supported restoration without the need for bone grafting.

Dentists Brian Bell and Clinton Matkins in Lake Jackson, TX, can restore a full dental arch using only four implants for a functional, natural-looking smile.

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

Similar to traditional dental implant-supported restorations, All-on-4 requires surgery to insert sturdy titanium rods into your jawbone where your restorations will eventually be fastened. Unlike traditional dental implants that insert a rod for every missing tooth or every few teeth, the All-on-4 method only requires four implants per full arch. This means that even if you are missing all of your upper or lower teeth, you will still only need four dental implants per jaw.

A Dramatically Shorter  Treatment Timeline

No Preparatory Procedures

Many patients with missing teeth are told that due to tissue loss in their jaw, they cannot qualify for traditional dental implants without a bone graft. With All-on-4, our dentists can place implants without the need for a graft.

Fewer Implant Posts

Implant-supported dentures typically require six to eight posts per full arch for sufficient stability. The revolutionary All-on-4 method uses only four implants placed at strategic angles for maximum support.

Quicker Results

Most All-on-4 patients can receive a lifelike temporary restoration at the same time their implants are placed. This immediate placement eliminates the need for a waiting period without teeth.

Cost of All-on-4 Dental Implants

The cost of treatment greatly depends on the current state of your oral and physical health. While costs vary, the All-on-4 method can often be more cost-effective than traditional implant-supported dentures. Since dental implant surgery is considered cosmetic, it's not covered by insurance, but Bell Dental offers flexible financing options to all our patients to help get you the care you need within your budget. Call our office to learn more about our financing and set up your All-on-4 consultation.

Suffering From Jawbone Atrophy? You Could Still Qualify for All-on-4

Because of the unique techniques used with All-on-4 dental implants, many patients who've suffered bone loss can still receive treatment. The implants are placed at precise angles that optimize the existing bone volume, reducing the need for bone grafting.

Consultation

You will meet with Dr. Bell or Dr. Matkins at our Lake Jackson, TX, office to discuss your goals and assess your oral and overall health. If your dentist determines you are a good candidate for All-on-4 dental implants, you will schedule a time for surgery.

Preparation

We take a careful and advanced approach to planning your surgery. Dr. Bell and Dr. Matkins use 3D dental imaging, surgical guides, and computer-guided surgery to ensure your implants are placed in the most effective area to support your restoration.

The Surgery

First, anesthesia will be given to you to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Next, your dental professional will make four small incisions where he will place your implants. These small yet durable titanium posts will be surgically placed into your jawbone to mimic natural tooth roots.

Temporary Restorations

A temporary restoration, made with our CEREC® machine, will be placed on your new implants while they fuse to the jawbone, so you'll have a full smile even while healing. Your dentist will give you recommendations on what to avoid while your implants are healing.

Healing

During the healing process, your bone will fuse around the titanium implants (called osseointegration). Once healed, the implants will be securely anchored in the bone, allowing them to act as a sturdy base for your permanent restorations.

Permanent Restorations

During your next appointment at our Lake Jackson office, the temporary dentures will be removed and the permanent dentures attached to your implants. Your customized dentures will look just like your natural teeth, so you can leave our Lake Jackson office smiling with confidence.

Aftercare Instructions

Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you heal from All-on-4 placement surgery:

Take Medications

Some discomfort after surgery is to be expected. Many patients can easily manage this with over-the-counter pain medications, or your dentist may prescribe medications. Take these medications as directed.

Eat a Soft Diet

Eat a soft diet while your mouth and jaw heal from surgery. For the first week or two, patients typically stick to liquids like smoothies and protein shakes. After this, foods like mashed potatoes, eggs, and hummus are great choices.

Ice and Elevation

Ice packs can reduce swelling and help with discomfort. Place ice packs on your jaw for about 20 minutes at a time. You can also minimize swelling by keeping your head elevated for a few days post-surgery.

If you have pain that cannot be managed, excessive swelling or bleeding, or any signs of infections such as fever, please call our Lake Jackson office so we can address your concerns promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions About All-on-4 Dental Implants

Q.

Does All-on-4 placement hurt?

A. No. Your dentist will thoroughly numb the area before placement. Our Lake Jackson dentist also offers sedation options to ensure your comfort during your treatment.

Q.

How long do dental implants last?

A. Dental implants are made of durable titanium and are designed to last a lifetime with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits. It is important to remember that your denture will wear over time and will eventually need to be replaced. However, with proper care and maintenance, your denture can last for 15 years or more.

Q.

How do I care for my dental implants and dentures?

A. One of the great benefits of implant-supported restorations is that they are treated just like natural teeth. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing at least twice a day. Use a soft-bristled brush and a nonabrasive toothpaste. Be sure to maintain regular exams and cleanings at our Lake Jackson office to keep your smile healthy and beautiful for years to come. We provide comprehensive dental care for all your oral health needs.
